Despite Chiang Mai being so well renowned for its plethora of vegan food, Bangkok seems to be getting better and better, in some ways overtaking Chiang Mai with all these western vegan restaurants which is something that Chiang Mai still lacks, as I’ve noted before. First came this branch and then they later opened an additional branch in the Central Embassy Building as well!
This branch is very easy to find in a very central area of the city, on the Sukhumvit Road at the corner of Soi 49 (nearest BTS Phrom Pong or Thong Lo.) It is an inside place, bright, modern and attractive. There is seating mostly downstairs and some limited seating upstairs. Bookings, I believe, are possible. The second branch is in the Central Embassy building on the top floor. The area is shared with other restaurants and is not nearly as nice as this one. The menu is pretty much the same at both branches.
The menu is not huge but the items on offer here are all pretty amazing as well as unique. There’s an interesting range from simple somtam to a chargrilled burger with chips, and the fries – which can often be quite plain – are made quite spectacularly here.
Other dishes include some delicious burittos as well as a range of salads and other dishes all from all around the world such as kimchi fried rice or gluten free Italian pasta. New dishes are being added all the time, so you can be sure to expect some nice surprises. Everything is delicious and healthy. They also have an amazing range of desserts such as pumpkin pie, carrot cake and chocolate cheesecake, all 100% vegan and I believe are provided by the outstanding Veganerie.
They have a vegan ice-cream range with an interesting range of flavours including broccoli!
They have a whole range of juices although these are on the pricey side. They also sell vegan breads and muffins and packaged things.
Finally they even sell alcoholic cocktails, organic wines and beers which was just the icing on the vegan cake for us to sum up the excellence of this place.
Our only minor gripe would be that because they place is completely inside there is air-conditioning that is set to a rather ferocious level and in our summer clothes we actually found ourselves feeling somewhat chilly. If you are someone who feels the cold easily it’s worth bringing an extra layer of clothing.
Otherwise, a great place! Definitely one of the finest places to visit when down in Bangers.
