Vegan Living in Chiang Mai, Thailand
You have probably already heard that Chiang Mai is a little paradise for vegans or vegetarians and maybe that is why you have decided to visit, whether it be for longer term residency or just a short-term vacation. You’ve certainly come to the right place!
Since there are so many vegan or vegan-friendly restaurants all over the city, vegan food sold and vegan events happening everywhere, I decided to put all the information that you’ll need to know all right here in the same place.
Even if you are just passing through, there are so many places to try that you won’t want to miss. You certainly won’t be going hungry! Rather, you might be overwhelmed with all the choices you’ll find on almost every corner. To help you choose where to go, I have built this impartial restaurant review guide to help you.
I list restaurants that are vegan and also vegetarian restaurants that cater well to vegans perhaps with a separate vegan menu. I also list restaurants that may not be exclusively vegetarian but do at least have vegan food as their primary focus with an abundance of meat and dairy free options than do not require customisation.
The restaurants I have listed are purposefully not in order of favourites, although I may have mentioned some of my personal preferences in some of the reviews. Food is a very personal thing. I believe that everyone has different needs and preferences and I want you to find out for yourself as your own opinion is going to be different from mine. It may take a little longer to find what you want by going through the site, but it will save you going to one of my favourites that doesn’t turn out to be yours. 🙂
As well as Chiang Mai, I have also listed other restaurants around Thailand that I have experience with. Please visit those pages if you need help in other provinces. You will be just as spoilt in Bangkok, Phuket, Koh Samui or Ko Phangan. The further out of the tourist areas that you venture, the harder it will be become, but don’t worry because finding vegan food is possible all over Thailand, you just need to know what to look for so please visit the Around Thailand page to read all you’ll need to know!
I hope that you will find this site useful as you can enjoy healthy and ethical food in Chiang Mai preserving your health and the lives and welfare of animals. If you have any questions about anywhere you’re traveling to, please feel free to drop me an email at any time!
