Pun Pun has been one of Chiang Mai’s most popular vegetarian restaurants for a long time. They used to have several branches but now they have just this one and the other branch that is near the Airport. Unlike the other branch, this one is fully vegetarian. It is in the temple grounds of Wat Suan Dok. They have a large indoor canteen style eating area which lacks character, most people seem to prefer to sit outside in the garden setting.
The food here is different from the one at the Airport. The food here is all authentic and typical Thai food. Mostly all vegan. You can expect the usual Thai selection but they have some very authentic and tasty dishes. The menu is large and the food is made very well here. The banana flower salad or the somtam Laos are quite unusual and are very delicious.
They also even have a small grocery section selling snacks and cooking ingredients such as sauces.
The popularity of this restaurant is well deserved but we wish they were open until a bit later.
